Hello, I'm Mary
I fell in love with writing and telling stories as a child. When my late father wasn't paying attention, I would sneak one of his yellow legal pads from his hoard and continue to create my own universe with colorful characters and familiar, yet exciting, places.

When I was a junior in high school, my family and I moved to a new city. The only way I found a sense of familiarity was with words. I wanted to write. So, I joined yearbook, which required a journalism course. I didn't know what journalism was, but it sounded like an easy (insert informed chuckle here) prerequisite to conquer. Little did I know I was about to discover my future career, my passion and my livelihood. Journalism quenched my desire to tell stories and be a part of something bigger than myself.
Stories like this are why I love journalism and storytelling.
Three years later, I am a senior at Ball State University who's a news junkie, coffee addict and AP style nerd, and I'm still driven by the same passion I discovered as a timid, 16-year-old high schooler. Looking to chat? Feel free to reach out: firstname.lastname@example.org.
